Ameristep Doghouse Blind Reviews: An Honest Review From An Expert’s Perspective

Let’s face it, hunting for animals in the forest without a certain level of concealment can be a hurdle. Animals are constantly devising smarter and more intelligent ways to steer clear of hunters in their natural habitat.

Hunters use various approaches to keep themselves concealed from the well-trained senses of their prey. Some use camouflaged clothing, others use scent killers, while other hunters choose to use the traditional method of moving slowly and carefully through the terrain to avoid alerting their prey.

Well, these techniques may work, but their success rate is often slim. The most successful way for hunters to blend in with the environment is to use either ground blinds or tree stands, and this is where our Ameristep Doghouse Blind Reviews is headed.

Ameristep Doghouse Blind Reviews And Overview

Ameristep Doghouse Blind in Realtree Edge Camo – What does it have to offer?

This hunting blind offers a safer, more comfortable method for hunters to stay put and hidden from their targeted prey. Rather than climbing a tree and waiting for your prey, it makes it possible to conceal yourself in the thick forest, thus minimizing the risks of falling.

Hunting blinds play an integral part in hunting because they allow you to effectively conceal your face, making it easy and quick to shoot and kill your targeted prey. These are essential elements for hunting deer, coyote, ducks, turkey, and so much more.

Ground Hunting Blinds vs. Tree Stands

Understandably, there are hunters who prefer hunting out in the open. Then there are those who fancy some level of concealment while hunting.

Tree stands can help hide you from your targeted prey’s line of sight. However, using a ground blind is the sure-fire way to completely vanish in plain sight.

What Goes Into Choosing the Best Hunting Blind?

Hunting blinds vary widely when it comes to features and sizes. Therefore, you need to first determine the size of your hunting group before making any purchase decision.

The portability of a hunting blind is also an important factor to keep in mind when making a decision. A portable and lightweight model is particularly ideal for hunters who keep changing their hunting spots from time to time.

There’s no need to have a portable or lightweight hunting blind if you’ve already marked your favorite hunting spot in the wild. Under this situation, you can either opt for a hard-wall model or erect your own blind in that lucky spot.

The height of your blind is of great significance if bow hunting is your cup of tea, because it lets you shoot while standing up.

Anyways, ground hunting blinds have been around for quite a long time now, but they’ve just received a greater level of attention among hunters in recent years. Similarly, these outdoor hunting equipment have seen considerable amends in their portability, design, and materials.

Now, if you are in search of an easy to use ground blind that won’t break your bank, continue reading our Ameristep Doghouse Blind reviews.

Ameristep Doghouse Ground Blind, Two Man Hunting Blind in Realtree Edge Camo

Who Is This For?

Retailing at around $80, the Ameristep Doghouse Ground Blind is a perfect option for hunters on a budget. This ground blind is currently among the highest-selling models, for good reasons.

Key Features of Ameristep Doghouse Ground Blind

Some of the features that make this ground blind stand out from the crowd include:

Durashell Plus Outer Shell

The unit’s outer shell is made of Durashell Plus and is color-patterned in Mossy Oak Break-Up Country for optimal concealment in the forest.

The Durashell Plus fabric is a custom-woven, matte-finish material that makes this blind lightweight and durable. The matte finish on the outside of the blind enables it to effortlessly blend with the surroundings.

Imperceptible Interior Coating & Real Tree Camo

There is an undetectable ShowGuard coating on the interior of the blind, which filters any shadows and silhouettes while blocking scents to prevent the game from getting scared.

Designed for archery and rifle hunters, the Ameristep Doghouse Ground Blind consists of real tree edge camo and waterproof materials. This combination helps conceal up to two hunters and insulate them from heavy rain and other harsh outdoor conditions.

For added concealment, the Ameristep Doghouse Ground Blind includes the 3D Edge ReLeaf feature, whose function is to break up the blind’s sharp edges. This helps it blend more easily with the surrounding.

Up to Seven Individual Window Zipper Openings

A total of 7 individual window zipper openings are available in this blind. These window zipper openings are easy to open however you want for optimum visibility.

You can hook up any of these window openings with shoot-through mesh screens for protection against unwanted insects and bucks as you watch for your potential prey.

Adequate Space for 2 Hunters

In terms of height, the smaller side window is 30 inches and the larger window is 35 inches high. Although the Ameristep Doghouse Ground Blind is a 2-person tent, it has fairly enough room, and two hunters inside won’t feel cramped.

However, if both people inside are going to aim and shoot at the same time, the blind might begin to feel somewhat claustrophobic. The blind has a 60×60-inch floor space and measures 5.5ft high, which means that it’s almost impossible to shoot while standing up.

Super Easy & Quick Setup

This lightweight hunting blind is super easy to set up in less than 5 minutes. To set it up, simply pull the blind’s sides apart, and it’ll practically set itself up. Simple, huh!

The Ameristep Doghouse Ground Blind also provides the stakes, high-wind tie-downs, and a backpack carrying case. At 12 pounds total weight, the unit is extremely lightweight, especially considering its footprint.

What’s more, the blind is comprised of multiple holes of shooting, allowing you to enjoy an unforgettable hunting experience. Even so, we didn’t like the fact that the Ameristep Doghouse Ground Blind comes in a single pattern – the Realtree Extra.
